Lecture 2
SAFEGUARD YOUR HEART
Read Luke 6:45
Can a bad heart produce good fruit?
The things that we speak comes from where?
Looking over the list of conditions from the previous lecture, it is plain to see why it is necessary to keep our hearts guarded.
Were you able to find more scriptures that fit the descriptions listed in the Conditions of the Heart list?
One of the things that you might find, as you come across more verses to fill out the Conditions of the Heart list, is that the evil conditions of the heart are symbolic of the fact that there is unbelief or a lack of understanding present that needs to be addressed.
Read Genesis 45:26
What happened to Jacob’s heart because he didn’t believe?
Read John 12:40
What is the condition of a heart that does not understand?
Unbelief, or a lack of understanding, opens doors by causing cracks in the foundation that would allow the enemy to slip in undetected.
Remember that Satan is said to be “like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour.” Also, in Luke 4:13 we are told that “when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.” He looks for opportunities where he can attack us. He looks to attack not only those who are not dressed in the complete suit of armor but also those who have cracks in their armor that have not been addressed.
We are told to examine and test who?
This is why it is important that we regularly examine our armor and that we take care of it. We take care of our armor by examining ourselves regularly as to whether we are in the faith.
If we lack wisdom, what are we supposed to do?
If we have questions, who are we supposed to ask?
So, if ever you grew up hearing that you are not to question God, that statement is incorrect. You can ask God if you have questions about anything.
How can we come to the throne of grace?
