Lecture 3
Worshipping God with Zeal and Truth
John 4:23-24 NKJV
23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Ironically and unexpectedly, while preparing this information, I found myself considering Cain and Abel. There was a question asked, and the answers given fit right along with this that is being discussed now. The question asked was,
“Why did God accept Abel’s offering, but not Cain’s offering”?
Those who answered shared amazing insight into the matter from their understanding. But the answer that stood out to me the most was this:
“Even though Cain gave the best of what he had that’s not what God asked him for. God is our Creator we cannot give Him what pleases us.” (For privacy reasons the author of this comment will not be referenced. )
This answer, along with what Mr. Angel stated (shown in Lecture 2), just brought it all home for me about the cloak and why it was that Jesus told the disciples to sell their cloak and purchase a sword.
We cannot give to GOD, our Creator, what pleases us and think that this will be acceptable to HIM.
We cannot treat our Omnipotent, Omniscient Creator, The Sustainer of ALL, as if HE is common, like one of us.
We are to reverence our Heavenly Father.
We need to worship Him how HE has prescribed.
Romans 12:1-2 New International Version
A Living Sacrifice
12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Yes, we need to be passionate in our worship of our Heavenly Father. But we also need to add to that passion, TRUTH.
I challenge you, now that you have and understand all of the pieces of the garment, to identify these pieces as you are reading God’s Word. See each of the pieces in action as you read God’s Word and they show up in the verses that you are reading. When that happens understand that in that particular verse, you are being given even more revelation into how to use the complete suit of armor that our Heavenly Father has provided us with for these last days.
I don’t know about you, but I am really excited because we have truly been fully equipped for every good work just like Father promised us in 2 Timothy 3:17.
Now that you are DRESSED for Battle, and your garments have been ACTIVATED for use, be encouraged by Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Winans, and CeCe Winans who reminds us to…
STAND
Ephesians 6:13 New International Version
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
