Lecture 4
You Can’t Go Onto A Battlefield Playing Dress up
Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits. – Hebrews 6:1-3

1 Samuel chapter 17 tells us the story of David and Goliath.
While many focus on the battle itself, I want to focus on something different for the moment.
I want to focus on the faith of a child -vs- the armor of man.
While it is important to dress for battle, it is not the physical armor that will prepare you. It is not the armor of man that you need to put on. It is the Whole armor of God that you need to wear.
King Saul, David’s brothers, and all of the army of Israel were dressed in their battle garments, and yet none of them had what it took to stand against Goliath.
So for them, even though they were dressed for war, they were like children playing dress-up. None of them had what it took to go up against Goliath.
King Saul, who was afraid to lead the battle himself and who did not have the nerve to stand in his own armor against Goliath, had the nerve to try to get David to play dress up too by putting his armor on David.
Knowing the story of David and why God chose David what you will find is that David was not chosen by God for his looks.
God called David a man after his own heart.
David had a character that God approved of. We will talk more about the character of a Soldier in the MASTERCLASS: The 5Cs of a Soldier of Christ.
After having tried on the armor of King Saul, David knew that he had to take it off and go up for battle as he knew how. He had to dress for Battle in the way that God had trained him while he was keeping his father’s sheep.
Today, one of the lessons that you need to take from this is that God created you and placed inside of you all that you need for the purpose for which you were created.
Read Psalm 139:14
You were fearfully and wonderfully made.
God made no mistakes when He created you. Therefore, you do not need to imitate someone else. You do not need to try to look like someone else. You simply need to be yourself and all that God created you to be.
Now, we are told to take up the whole armor of God. This armor is not one size fits all. You can’t go into a department store and shop for it off of a rack of predesigned, cut, and sewn armor. So, as my armor fits me, but won’t fit you, and your armor fits you, but won’t fit me, this is because it is custom fit. Who fits you in your armor is the Holy Spirit.
Read ..the Holy spirit gives his spirit to whom he chooses as he chooses scripture.
Now, looking back at this story that is told in 1 Samuel 17:12-47 what you will find is that David was completely dressed in the Whole Armor of God.
He was girded with truth.
His breast was covered with the breastplate of righteousness.
His feet were definitely shod with the Gospel.
He had his helmet strapped on and He was full of zeal.
His Sword was a slingshot with five smooth stones and His shield was large.
I challenge you to see each piece worn.
Remember the garment is spiritual and therefore, it will take the discernment of the spiritual eye in order to see the activated armor being worn by David.
Can you identify each area wherein David was shown wearing his whole armor of God? See if you can answer these questions:
If you struggled with identifying David’s armor, then this workshop is for you.
Not only are you learning how to identify each piece, but you are also learning how to put them on and activate them in your life.
If you haven’t done so already, proceed to Module 1 Quiz
