(Module 2, Lecture 2) The Benefits of Girding our Loins

Lecture 2

Strengthening the Core

Considering a couple of examples will help us to get a very valuable visual of what this garment is and how it is to be used.

  1. Back in the day when I was younger, I remember hearing the older women in my family talk about having their girdles on. Today, on the market is a waist trainer (belt) that is supposed to snatch the waist.
  2. In some home repair stores or stores where the employees are required to do a lot of heavy lifting, they are also required to wear a back brace (or belt) that provides added support to protect them from injuring their back.

Both of these examples provide clues to the purpose of having the waist girded:

Always remember that our core is to be girded with truth. When our foundation is truth, it will help us to stand up straight.

There is a song that says, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is _________________.” Did you say “sinking sand”? That is correct.

Read John 14:6.

What are we told about Jesus Christ?

Read Philippians 4:13.

Who strengthens us?

So, having one’s waist girded with truth also means that we are supported or backed up by Jesus Christ, and this we can count on because Jesus Christ is the Truth.

Read Mark 16:14-20.
